                                                       SAINT LAWRENCE STUDENTS LEND A HELPING HAND

Saint Lawrence School in West Haven  held a collection for the relief efforts in Haiti this past Wednesday, January 20th.  
The students in grades PreK through 8th grade have kept the victims, families, and rescuers in their morning prayers at
school each day.  In addition, the students and staff were allowed a dress-down day today in exchange for their
contributions for the relief effort. Through the generosity of staff and students, $687.50 was collected. Father Mark Jette,  
will send the money, along with the proceeds of the collections taken at Masses this past Sunday, to the
Catholic Relief Services in Haiti.

"Buddy Day" at Saint Lawrence
Students in the upper grades "buddied" with students in the lower grades to
read to them.  They also made cards for our service men and women, the
homebound, and shut-ins. 8th Grade buddied with PreK, 7th with Kdg., 6th
with 1st, 5th with 3rd, and 4th with 2nd.
Paul R. DeFonzo, Principal, along with the Rev. Mark Jette,
pastor, recently celebrated with the Saint Lawrence
Students of the Month for February, 2010.  The students,
along with their parents and grandparents, were treated to
a pancake breakfast and a ceremony that highlighted the
students' achievements, as well as presenting them with
certificates and a principal's award pin.  Shown are: (left to
