Principal Paul DeFonzo announces the initiation of Saint Lawrence School’s newly formed chapter,
Charger Pride, of the National Junior Honor Society. A ceremony was held on May 12, 2011 for the
initiation and the induction of eleven charter members from the 7th and 8thgrade classes. The
ceremony included a Mass by the Rev. Mark Jette which included a blessing of the pins, cords, and
inductees as well as a candle lighting ceremony. A reception followed for students and their families.

The Rotary Club of West Haven recently visited the 3rd grade class at Saint
Lawrence School as part of their annual dictionary donation program to help
reinforce student literacy skills.  As part of the program every 3rd grade
student in West Haven, both public and private schools, receives a free
student's dictionary & gazetteer.  In addition, the classroom teacher also
receives a thesaurus as well as a vocabulary builder to be shared with all

  Saint Lawrence School recently held their annual junior high Science Fair under the direction of
Lorna Kuzia, science teacher. The following students won ribbons for their projects, as judged by
teachers and students from both Notre Dame High School and the University of New Haven.
