WELCOME ALUMNI

We spent a great part of our younger years together and thought we would always keep in touch.
However, as we grew older many of us went our separate ways never again see or talk with our
"friends forever."
We have started this alumni page as both, a testimonial to your years at St. Lawrence, and to see
where your classmates may be. If you would like to submit your testimonial, send us updated
personal information, or just say Hi, please either mail it to the school or email it our school principal
Mr. Paul DeFonzo at the following address,

“I started at Saint Lawrence School in the 4th grade, when there was finally room for me!  (I attended Noble School,
grades 1-3, and catechism at the St. John Vianney Chapel).  There were seven in my family who graduated from
Saint Lawrence School, from 1945-1956.  Back then we usually had 40 students per class, and they were all nuns as
teachers.  At that time, there was little science and language, but we were well-instructed in the 3-R’s”
Sara Keyes, Class of 1953.

“The thing I remember most was a project with an egg in 7th grade.  Classmates teamed up as married, had an egg
child to care for, and completed tax forms...”
DonnaMarie Comstock, Class of 1987

“Hopefully I can make next reunion.  I loved those May Crownings of our Blessed Mother in the schoolyard.  I was so
happy to be in the St. Lawrence Girl’s Brigade.  I loved Holy Thursday and the processional with our white dresses
and communion veils – loved the ceremony.  Sister Marie Blanche, Sister Marie John, Sister Mary Paulita, Sister
Thoma Marie, Sister Agatha, and Mrs. Walton were all great teachers!”
Claire Jutras, Class of 1963

“My beloved Saint Lawrence years hold my best memories.  First of all, acquiring my nickname, “Irish” from my friends
and classmates.  To this day, I am still called “Irish” when we meet.  My first stage experience was in the annual
Christmas play in 6th grade.  I played the “m” in mince meat.  Wow!  Applause! Applause!”
William Quinn, Class of 1965

“Nuns.  There are not any at my children’s grammar school, Our Lady of Sorrows, in Hamilton Township, N.J.  Sister
Mary Luke said to say a Hail Mary every time we heard a siren, and to this day, I still do.  Sister Borgia was always
funny!”
Timothy Dargan, Class of 1972

“My wife and I have two children: Drew, 9 years old, and Derek, 6 years old.  I look back fondly at my 8 years at Saint
Lawrence School.”
Alexander Dowgiallo, Class of 1983

“It was the best years of my life at Saint Lawrence School.  I loved my fellow students and teachers: Frank Biondi, Mr.
Moore, Sister Presentation, Miss Santa, Miss Danehy.”
 Christopher Fiorillo, Class of 1977

“My favorite memories about Saint Lawrence are from performing in school plays every year.  Godspell in 1998 was
an especially fun experience.  The entire class formed a great bond.”
Kimberly Doughty, Class of 1998

A great foundation at Saint Lawrence thus “acing” my way through high school and college, graduating with a BS in
Math.  Also, Sister Marjorie Paulinus helping me to quit biting my nails!”
Louis Mongillo, Class of 1970

“I remember starting kindergarten and not being too happy.  After meeting several friends I continued on to the eighth
grade.  I have many good memories.  I still see many of my classmates and we often stop and talk about our fun times
at Saint Lawrence School.”
Barbara Bradley, Class of 1949

“I remember distinctly when President Kennedy was shot.  Sister David was running to each classroom and we all fell
to our knees to pray,  We were then sent home and the school cleared until after JFK’s funeral.”
Debra Johnson, Class of 1966

“Sister Presentation was the best teacher I ever had!  She brought both music and English into my life, and I went on
to pursue both!  I love her to pieces and we still exchange Christmas cards from 3,000 miles away.”

Dawn Castiglione, Class of 1978
